If only Histor Monodek existed in 2006.

We could have saved ourselves a lot of stress, money, and… bright red walls. 🤣

In 2006, my husband and I bought our first house in ’t Zuid, a charming neighborhood in Antwerp, Belgium. It was a beautiful old property, but we had no budget for contractors or professional painters. So we decided to do paint the walls ourselves.

What an adventure. It was summer, extremely hot, and the paint dried faster than we could roll it on. We got streaks everywhere. After five coats of red (yes, we thought red was a great idea 😅) it still looked terrible.

Fast forward to today: Histor Monodek promises “always smooth and streak-free” results. In the commercial, you see a man breakdancing and spinning around with a paintbrush, yet still ending up with a perfectly painted wall.

Message: even if you go wild with your brush, the finish stays flawless.

As a professional voice actor, I had the honor of lending my voice to this Histor commercial. The campaign has been running on TV and online for almost three years now, and I am still incredibly proud of it.

It is the kind of project that makes you love this work even more: a fun concept, playful execution, and a brand that everyone in Belgium and the Netherlands knows.

Why brands choose an experienced commercial voice over

Since 2010, we have moved roughly every two years (yes, really 😅), and every time we move I think back to that summer of 2006. Fortunately, I no longer have to paint walls.

Today, I focus on what I do best: delivering the voice that brings commercials to life. 😉

We have learned a lot since then. About painting. About homes. And thankfully, about color choices too.
