Voicing a Secret Commercial with Owen Wilson (Kind of)
For those who haven't been to the UK or Europe, Wolt is a delivery service, just like Uber Eats or Doordash in the United States.
When Wolt+ launched their new campaign with none other than Owen Wilson, I didn’t get the full picture right away. In fact, I got almost no picture. The project came in without any creative briefing, no brand video reference, and zero mention of Owen. The only instruction: "deliver the voice over today". Oh, and "make it great." I guess there was no time for an NDA, or maybe videos weren't ready yet ;-)
The spot was top secret. I assume it had to do with the star power attached. If you want that “wow” factor when the ad drops, you don’t announce Owen Wilson is your frontman too early.
So there I was: a brief email with a few lines of script, a tight deadline, and no live directed session. Just me, my booth, and a hunch that this one might be a big deal. The script was straightforward: short, punchy, and all about Wolt+ and its zero delivery fees.
And while the lines were simple, I knew the tone had to be spot-on. Friendly, trustworthy, effortless. Basically, the kind of voice that makes people want to subscribe to Wolt+.
Voice Over for Commercials That Keep Things Moving
This kind of job is a great example of what clients often need: a fast, professional voice actor who doesn’t need hand-holding, who delivers clean, polished audio the same day, and who can adjust tone and pacing even with limited direction. No Source Connect session. No Zoom call. Just trust.
The full Wolt+ campaign includes multiple commercials, all with Owen in the lead. From burrito mishaps to grocery drops and over-the-top reactions from bystanders, the spots are quirky, fast-paced, and funny. The voice over (that's me!) stays calm and confident: a steady presence to balance the chaos.

Everything was recorded in my professional home studio. I delivered all the takes that same day. The turnaround was fast, but the result sounds anything but rushed.

A Voice Over for Every Version
The Wolt+ campaign consisted of several different versions:
• The Burrito Spot: Owen holds his phone and burrito and says, “You gotta try this.”
• The Dog in the Park: A blue ice cream, a barking dog, and a surprise pet food delivery.
• The Wolt… Pluuuuus Spot: Owen practicing how to say “Wolt+” with my voice steady in the background.
• The Zero Fees Spiral: A humorous take on what happens when Owen says he doesn’t have to worry about anything anymore.
• Rapid Fire Saving: Owen can’t stop getting delivery notifications. “Hold on! I keep saving so much!”
Each one has its own voice over nuance. That’s part of what makes this campaign a great example of effective, punchy commercial voice over work.
